Born Nomshim'mi Joseph Haruna, the Kaduna-reared artist professionally known as Nomshimmi discovered his musical instinct early, picking up the keyboard at just eight years old. His early foundation seamlessly transitioned into his school years, where he served as music director for the Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS) choir and social prefect, and honed his craft as a lyricist. After co-founding the group Rising Stars and releasing the single "Better Days," he launched his solo career in 2022, quickly asserting his presence by winning the Hip Samba Star competition against Kaduna State's top emerging talent.
Driven by a relentless work ethic and a stream of consistent live performances, Nomshimmi has carved out a distinct sound — a dynamic blend of hip-hop verses and Afrobeat rhythms. He solidified his footprint with the August 2025 release of his debut EP, 808s and Metaphors, proving the duality of his talent as both a vocalist and a rapper.
With a track record of winning over crowds and a steadily growing discography, Nomshimmi continues to push the boundaries of music, positioning himself as one of the most promising new voices coming out of Nigeria.
